SUMMARY:Resilience Roulette: Reinvest or Run – What would you do after the big one hits?
DESCRIPTION:Resilience Roulette: Reinvest or Run\nWhat would you do after the big one hits?\nThousands of coastal residents and businesses have to navigate this decision.  If you are hit with a big storm\, do you rebuild?  Walk away?  How do you balance the need to “return to normalcy” and quickly recover from a disaster with the need to build back better? How do you manage limited resources?  Go it alone or pool resources in a larger\, improved recovery strategy?   \nThe Boston Green Ribbon Commission (GRC) and Harvard Business School (HBS) created a game to give you a chance to explore the tradeoffs between speed of recovery\, costs to recovery\, and opportunity to rebuild and invest in resiliency within the post-disaster window.   \nWe will play this interactive game in small groups followed by a rigorous debrief to name what we learned and how we might apply that learning to the real funding challenges we face in Boston and beyond. This conversation will directly contribute to the ongoing regional effort to unlock billions in federal investment in climate resilience projects that the City of Boston and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have identified. \nClick Here to View the Final Agenda\nClick Here to View the Attendee List\nForum Schedule\n8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Registration & Networking\n9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Forum\n12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. – Lunch (optional) \nForum Agenda\nWelcome & Introductions \nGame Introduction \n\nRebecca Herst\, Associate Director and Director of Climate Resilience\, Boston Green Ribbon Commission\nCarri Hulet\, Principal\, CH Consulting\n\nGame – led by: \n\nOna Ferguson\, Senior Mediator\, Consensus Building Institute (CBI) \nAarati Halbe\, Associate\, CBI\n\nNetworking Break \nSimulation Debrief & Discussion \n\nOna Ferguson and Aarati Halbe\, CBI\n\nAdjourn – an optional lunch open to all attendees will be held immediately following the program \nForum Co-Chairs\nJanan Reilly\nClimate Adaptation and Resilience Business Line Manager\nFuss & O’Neill \n  \n \nJulie Wormser\nChief Climate Officer\nCity of Cambridge \n  \nRegistration Information\nVenue capacity has been reached – online registration has closed. SUMMARY:Living and Working Through Climate Change: Emotional Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Climate adaptation is often discussed through the lenses of projection data\, infrastructure planning\, policies\, and financial risk management. But behind every plan or policy decision are people who must live with the changes already happening around them\, as well as the people whose work is focused on preparing communities for what comes next. \nAs climate impacts become more frequent and harder to ignore\, they can also bring anxiety\, grief\, trauma\, uncertainty\, and exhaustion. These experiences are felt by people living through floods\, extreme heat\, displacement\, and environmental loss\, but also by the practitioners\, planners\, advocates\, researchers\, teachers\, and community leaders who work on these issues every day. \nWhat does it mean to live and work through climate change? How can we give proper recognition to the individual and collective climate grief and anxiety being experienced by so many people\, especially our younger generations? How do we continue to urgently address the climate crisis while supporting practitioners increasingly facing exhaustion and burnout? And what can psychology\, community practice\, storytelling\, and the arts teach us about building connection\, hope\, and the ability to act? \nForum Schedule\n9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Registration & Networking\n9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Forum\n12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Lunch (optional) \nForum Speakers\n \nLeslie Davenport\nClimate Psychology Educator and Consultant \n  \n  \n \n\n\n\n\nTehya Jennett\nCo-Founder\, Climate Storyteller\, Producer\nStranded Astronaut Productions \n\n\n  \n\n\nLaurel Tamayo\nFilmmaker\nImpact Associate\, Rare Entertainment Lab \n  \nAdditional speakers to be announced \nForum Co-Chairs\n\n \nKari Hewitt\nAdjunct Instructor\nTufts University \n\n  \n \n\nRacheal Inegbedion\nFounder\nInitiative for National Growth Africa \n  \n\n \nDelaney Morris-Landry\nAssistant Deputy Director of Coastal Resilience Delivery\, Planning Department\nCity of Boston \n  \nRegistration Information\nThis forum will be organized in a hybrid format.
